Department’s Mission:-

  1. To impart theoretical knowledge and execute practically in screening oral health  problems affecting the masses and underprivileged sections.
  2. Propagate oral health education by emphasising upon oral hygiene.
  3. Facilitate and counsel about adverse effects of deleterious habits such as Tobacco addiction.
  4. Periodically conduct oral health surveys and provide preventive services at the doorstep of the masses.


About the Department:-

The Department aims on conducting various research activities on  basis of felt  needs of the society with relation to their Oral health care, not just at an individual level,  but at the community level. Public Health means health of the masses, maintenance and care of which is our sole concern. We, with the goal of serving the community with an advanced infrastructure serves and caters the population with all oral health care facilities to the far away underserved rural areas. We are providing oral health education & dental screening of oral health problems faced by the migrant population clustered in Baddi, Nalagarh & Barotiwala.  Our endeavour strives in promoting preventive and palliative care to the community and  evaluating the changing status of  oral health conditions. 


Salient Features Of The Department:-

  1. SATELLITE CLINICS:–
    We have a fully functional dental set up at  institution level and there are 2 satellite clinics near Baddi and Nalagarh. One satellite centre is functional at a Gurdwara in Jagatkhana and another satellite centre is at Community Centre in  Rampur Chungi.
  2. MOBILE DENTAL VAN:-
    A state of ART fully functional Mobile Dental Van (MDV) equipped with two functional Dental Chairs. Twice a week the MDV caters to oral health problems by going on field visit serving the underprivileged section of the society. 
  3. Running TCC Centre (Tobacco Cessation Centre) in coordination with Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology:- 
    Offering support and counselling to those willing to quit tobacco. 
  4. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AND DENTAL COLLABORATION WITH NGO’S SUPPORTING CAUSE OF ORAL HEALTH:-
    • The Department of Public Health Dentistry has Collaboration with ‘CIPLA Mobile Health Unit Programme and Helpage India Foundation’ in offering dental check-up at Slums clustered around Baddi, Nalagarh and Barotiwala since September 2019 onwards. 
    • Collaboration with NGO-‘Institute for Global Development’ in offering Dental Check-up since 2019 onwards.
    • Collaboration with NGO-‘Humana People to People’ associated with Johnson & Johnson  in offering Dental Check-up since 2021 onwards. 
    • Conducted 164 Oral Health Screening and referral Camps in Several Industries, Schools and Slum areas at Baddi, Nalagarh & Barotiwala covering approximately 11,503 people by utilizing fully-functional Mobile Dental Van from 2019 till October 2021.


Community CDE Programmes, Observance of Health Days and Research Activities Conducted by Department:-

  • Organized CDE programme on “Fundamentals in Research Methodology on 6th June 2019.
  • Organized CDE programme on “Research Methodology in Biosciences’ on 17th Dec 2019.
  • Conducted 1st Virtual Online ART Competition on ZOOM on the occasion of Public Health Dentistry Day on 19th June 2021 for BDS undergraduate students.
