Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery is one of the major clinical departments of Bhojia Dental College and Hospital headed by Senior Professor and HOD Dr Geeta Kalra, with her is the team of two Readers, one Senior Lecturer and three lecturers. Teaching of this subject starts in third year of college. The department imparts knowledge about local and general anaesthesia, all the surgical procedures and maxillofacial pain relief to the students of BDS third and final year. The speciality focuses on extraction of teeth and all the minor oral surgical procedures related to oral structures including dental implants. The department is well equipped and has a separate minor oral surgery room and special clinical area for differently abled patients. The department has separate piezosurgical unit and electrosurgical unit to perform surgical procedures. Complete meticulous sterilization is maintained for all the procedures. The department has separate recovery room for the patients.
The maxillofacial speciality deals with all the day care procedures under local anaesthesia and sedation which includes facial trauma, removal of impacted teeth, relief of orofacial pain, removal of maxillofacial cysts and tumours and replacement of natural teeth with dental implants. Dental implants are provided at a very nominal rate for oral rehabilitation. The department also conducts various CDE programmes and guest speakers are invited for broadening spectrum of knowledge on various topics.
